Zarif confers with Lebanese PM-designate on issues of mutual interests

Beirut, Nov 8, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Tuesday conferred with Lebanese prime minister-designate Saad Hariri who is expected to form new government. Zarif confers with Lebanese PM-designate on issues of mutual interests Iran's Ambassador to Beirut Mohammad Fathali was also present in the meeting. The two sides reviewed the regional developments, Iran and Lebanon relations and cooperation in the new era after election of Lebanese president Michel Aoun for new term and formation of new government. General Michel Aoun was elected as the 13th Lebanese president last week by absolute majority of Parliament representatives after consultation with members of parliament. They introduced Head of al-Mustaqbal Party (Future Movement) Saad Hariri as the new prime Minister and assigned him to form new government. Zarif is due to meet with Lebanon parliament Speaker Nabih Berri later in the day. He led a politico-economic delegation to Lebanon to congratulate the Lebanese political parties on election of new president. Zarif is due to depart Lebanon for the east European states. 1378/IRNA
