The Speaker of the House of Representatives Calls for Increased Economic Cooperation and for Omani Companies to Take Advantage of the Security and Stability

Baghdad /NINA/ -Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani called for increased economic cooperation and for Omani companies to take advantage of the security and stability Iraq enjoys to expand their investment projects there.  A statement from the House of Representatives stated, "Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani met today, Saturday, on the sidelines of the Arab Parliamentary Union conference currently being held in Algeria, with Khalid bin Hilal al-Maawali, Speaker of the Omani Shura Council, and they exchanged greetings and welcomes.

Al-Mashhadani praised Oman's moderation, tolerance, and peaceful stances in the region, as it hosted and succeeded in the Iranian-American negotiations.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives praised Oman's important role in the region and the world, and its ability to resolve crises.

Al-Maawali expressed his happiness at meeting al-Mashhadani and the wisdom of his Iraqi and Arab political role. He expressed his gratitude for the warm reception of the Omani delegation in Iraq and the Iraqi hospitality and generosity he witnessed.

He hoped that Iraq would remain great and as we have known it, expressing his admiration for the development in Iraq, contrary to the distorted media coverage we hear internally and externally.

He added, "During our visit, we witnessed prosperity, security, and development," stressing that Oman's hand is extended to Iraq, and that there is economic cooperation between Omani companies operating in Iraq."

The statement emphasized, "  The two sides agreed to maintain communication and activate friendship committees between the two countries to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples./End
