Zayandeh Rood is the largest river in Iran’s central plateau. It originates in the central Zagros Mountains, flowing eastward across the central plains of Iran, and eventually emptying into Gavkhouni Lake, east of the city of Isfahan. The river, which passes through Isfahan, is a popular spot for residents as well as tourists visiting the city.
