SDRPY Lays Foundation Stone for Model School, Tours Ongoing Projects in Yemen’s Hadhramaut

Hadhramaut, August 6, 2025, SPA -- The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has laid the foundation stone for a new model school in Al-Mukalla District of Hadhramaut Governorate, aimed at enhancing educational opportunities in the governorate.
The new school will feature 24 classrooms along with modern facilities, including administrative offices and staff rooms. It will join more than 30 model schools previously established by SDRPY across various Yemeni governorates, all equipped with advanced infrastructure and modern laboratories for chemistry and computer science. These efforts reflect the program’s commitment to providing a high-quality learning environment that fosters knowledge, develops skills, and encourages innovation.
A delegation from SDRPY’s office in Hadhramaut toured several ongoing projects to assess progress. The visit included the expansion and rehabilitation project of Al-Abr Road, where the first phase—spanning 50 kilometers—has been completed, and work is currently underway on the second phase, covering 40 kilometers.
The delegation also inspected the rehabilitation project at Al-Wadiah Border Port, which involves constructing new buildings, refurbishing existing structures, upgrading roads, squares, and surveillance systems, and enhancing water and energy supplies to improve services at the port.
Additionally, the team visited the construction site of Al-Sabban Model School in Sayun District to review progress on its development and outfitting.
To date, SDRPY has implemented 265 development projects and initiatives—either completed or ongoing—across various Yemeni governorates. These span eight vital sectors: education, health, transportation, energy, water, agriculture and fisheries, development programs, and the enhancement of government capacity.
