Youth Minister meets WHO Regional Director for Eastern Mediterranean

Manama, Aug. 6 (BNA): Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, met with Dr. Hanan bint Hassan Balkhy, WHO Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean, to discuss enhancing cooperation through international partnerships. They aim to develop programmes that benefit youth and promote public health as a way of life.

Minister Tawfiqi reiterated the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to expanding global cooperation, empowering youth, and supporting sustainable development in a healthy and safe environment. She commended WHO’s role in enhancing health systems and public awareness, highlighting healthy lifestyles and preventive behaviour as key to Bahrain’s youth empowerment strategy.

The Youth Minister noted that the ministry seeks strategic partnerships with WHO to share expertise and deliver youth-focused awareness and training programmes.

On her part, Dr. Balkhy commended the Kingdom’s progress in youth empowerment and expressed WHO’s commitment to support initiatives that foster a health-conscious, informed young generation contributing positively to society.
