Mother of Swiss Participant Cherishes Son's Grand Mosque Recitation over Winning

Makkah, August 10, 2025, SPA -- Abeer Tahoun, mother of Swiss contestant Ali Khalil, expressed profound pride in her son's participation in the 45th King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Holy Quran Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation, where he competed in the fifth branch of what is widely recognized as the most prestigious Quran contest in the world.
Tahoun said, “The feelings are overwhelming, the joy immense, and my spirit is uplifted seeing my son standing in the Grand Mosque of Makkah, reciting the words of Allah and competing alongside Quran memorizers from across the globe.” She emphasized that mere participation is a “crowning achievement” and a source of great pride, regardless of the competition’s final results.
