Foreign Minister marks World Humanitarian Day

Manama, Aug. 19 (BNA): On the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, observed this year under the theme "A Call to Action for Humanity", Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s commitment to humanitarian diplomacy as a deeply rooted cultural value and a key pillar in strengthening international solidarity to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Foreign Minister expressed pride in the royal vision and directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which reflect Bahrain’s dedication to promoting compassion, solidarity, and humanitarian giving. He noted that these values aim to advance human well-being and happiness while fostering fraternity, peaceful coexistence, justice, and shared prosperity.
Dr. Al Zayani highlighted the pioneering role of the Royal Humanitarian Foundation (RHF), led by His Majesty the King as Honourary President, supported by the government, and followed up by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the RHF Board of Trustees. He commended the Foundation’s achievements over the past twenty-four years in caring for orphans and widows, implementing relief and development programmes in conflict and disaster zones, and enhancing cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries in partnership with civil society and international organisations.
He also noted His Majesty the King’s noble humanitarian and diplomatic initiatives, including calls to provide education and healthcare for those affected by conflicts, support international efforts to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, ensure safe and sustainable delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians, and protect relief convoys and humanitarian workers in accordance with international humanitarian law. He further pointed to the launch of prestigious international awards dedicated to serving humanity, empowering youth and women, advancing sustainable development, and promoting peaceful coexistence.
Dr. Al Zayani affirmed that Bahrain, through its active participation in international and regional forums and its upcoming non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, will continue to work with a collective spirit and foster constructive international partnerships. He stressed that the Kingdom remains committed to consolidating the values of human fraternity, strengthening multilateral cooperation to address global humanitarian and development challenges, and upholding the principles of the National Human Rights Plan.
He concluded by emphasising that serving humanity is a noble mission and a cornerstone for building inclusive, stable, and prosperous societies under the Kingdom’s leadership.
