Saudi International Handicrafts Week ‘Banan’ Begins in Riyadh

Riyadh, November 14, 2025, SPA -- Under the patronage of Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan, the third edition of the Saudi International Handicrafts Week (Banan) started Thursday in Riyadh. The event was organized by the Heritage Commission at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University with the participation of more than 400 male and female artisans from over 40 countries. China is the guest of honor for this year’s edition.
Held in conjunction with the Year of Handicrafts 2025, the event forms part of comprehensive efforts to highlight handicrafts as an essential component of the Kingdom’s cultural identity and to strengthen their presence in the contemporary creative landscape, reflecting the depth, diversity, and richness of Saudi heritage.
The event aims to spotlight artisans from around the world, support and empower them economically and culturally, and promote international cultural exchange. The event seeks to foster the sharing of expertise and experiences in the fields of crafts and traditional arts.
As the guest of honor, China is taking part with a special pavilion showcasing aspects of its rich artisanal heritage and presenting artistic works that blend authenticity and creativity. The Chinese participation reflects the deep cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and China and underscores the commitment of both nations to strengthening cultural and artistic cooperation under their comprehensive strategic partnership.
