UAWK Marks Its 80th Founding Anniversary

 Pyongyang, February 1 (KCNA) -- The Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea marked its 80th founding anniversary.
The founding of the UAWK was a turning point in carving out the destiny of the Korean peasants as it enabled them to proudly lead a dignified life with a revolutionary political organization representing their rights and interests for the first time in history.
The UAWK has steadily improved its appearance and might as a transmission belt and a peripheral organization of the Workers' Party of Korea by bringing up the peasants as powerful socialist workers to build a thriving nation under the leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il. It is upholding the Party's new plan for rural construction with ever-surging enthusiasm and responsible role in the period of a crucial turn in the development of the Korean revolution.
In recent years alone, tens of thousands of primary organizations, branch committees and primary committees of the UAWK have joined the ranks of model organizations of loyalty, the number of high-yield farms, workteams, sub-workteams and farmers has increased, model stockbreeding farms and Model Agricultural Worker Honor Prize winners have grown in number, and many model sci-tech learning spaces, units that won the title of Socialist Patriotic Forest and models of virtues and noble traits have been produced.
A meeting was held at the Central Hall of Workers on January 31 to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the UAWK.
Present there were Ju Chang Il and Kim Jong Sun, department directors of the WPK Central Committee,  officials of the UAWK, agricultural workers, and officials, teachers, journalists and editors of Kumsong University of Politics and the Working People's Organizations Publishing House.
Ju Chang Il read out a congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee to the organizations at all levels, officials and members of the UAWK.
The WPK Central Committee in its message said that the organizations at all levels, officials and members of the UAWK, which reviewed its 80-year-long proud course in the glorious era witnessing a new history of national rejuvenation and stood on a new starting line of more bold struggle, would as ever courageously and dynamically advance along the great milestone of socialist rural construction indicated by the Party.
