Sadyr Zhaparov receives members of European Parliament

Bishkek, Feb. 18, 2026. /Kabar/. President Sadyr Zhaparov today, February 18, received members of the European Parliament, led by the Chairperson of the Delegation for Relations with the Countries of Central Asia, Giusi Princi.

The meeting was attended by members of the European Parliament: Giusi Princi (Italy), Sven Simon (Germany), Thierry Mariani (France), Antonin Stanek (Czech Republic), Christian Vigenin (Bulgaria), Tomas Frölich (Germany), Chiara Gemma (Italy), Jussi Saramo (Finland).

Issues of further development of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and European Union were discussed, including strengthening interparliamentary interaction, protecting human rights and ensuring freedom of speech.

Head of state noted that cooperation with the European Union and European countries is one of the priority areas of Kyrgyzstan's foreign policy and confirmed his readiness to further strengthen relations.

Sadyr Zhaparov highly appreciated the holding of the next meeting of the Interparliamentary Cooperation Committee between Jogorku Kenesh and European Parliament as one of the main and meaningful mechanisms of dialogue.

“We attach particular importance to interparliamentary relations, considering them an effective channel for a direct and open exchange of views on domestic development, foreign policy and the regional agenda,” the president said.

In turn, Giusi Princi thanked Sadyr Zhaparov for his hospitality and the opportunity to discuss topical issues. She noted that relations between the European Union and Kyrgyzstan are developing steadily.

MEP's drawing attention to the successes achieved by Kyrgyzstan and the positive changes in recent years, highly appreciated the efforts to ensure sustainable socio-economic development and modernize public administration.

The delegation members reaffirmed their readiness to continue the constructive dialogue. In addition, the importance of deepening ties in the field of education was emphasized, including the activation of student exchange programs and the creation of new opportunities for the professional development of young people.

As a result of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further develop cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and European Union in priority areas of mutual interest.

President Sadyr Zhaparov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan is always open to cooperation and views this meeting as an important element in strengthening a permanent dialogue with the European Union.
