'Political changes will not affect Indo-Nepal military ties'

Kathmandu, Jan 20 (PTI) Stating that the armed forces
of India and Nepal enjoy "special military relationship",
Chief of the Indian Army Gen Deepak Kapoor has said that their
ties will not be affected by political changes and whoever
heads the government.

"We enjoy a special military relationship and we
should try to make it exemplary for the rest of the world, in
the days ahead," Gen Kapoor told Principal Staff Officers of
the Nepal Army at the Army Headquarters here Tuesday.
"Nepal Army and the Indian Army have traditional
linkages and this will not be affected by political changes
and whoever heads the government," he was quoted as saying by
the Kathmandu Post.
Kapoor, who arrived here Tuesday on a crucial four-
day trip amid protest by Maoists, today visited the high-
altitude military academy of Nepal Army situated in Jomsom in
Mustang district, some 220 km north-west of the capital.
Mustang is a famous mountain destination situated near
the Tibetan border. He also visited Muktinath Temple and met
local security officials including Chief District Officer
Umesh Kumar Dhakal, according to sources in the Nepal Army.
