More needs to be done by Aus govt to stop attacks: India
New Delhi, Jan 22 (PTI) Expressing "disappointment" over
the continuing attacks on its nationals, India on Friday said
"clearly more needs to be done" by Australian government to
stop these attacks.
"We are getting further details. We have received
assurances from government of Australia that they follow
policy of zero tolerance and they are taking measures but
clearly more needs to done," External Affairs Ministry
Spokesman Vishnu Prakash told reporters here.
He was reacting to the reports of two Indians, including a
cabbie, being attacked in separate incidents in Brisbane on
Thursday night.
He said High Commission and Consulars in Australia were in
close touch with Government of Australia, State governments
and police authorities.
"Safety and security of Indian nationals is very important
and we are disappointed at the attacks which continue to be
happening there," he said. PTI PYK
