FBI searches weight loss clinics of Indian-origin doctor

Chicago, Jan 23 (PTI) Five weight loss clinics of an
Indian-origin doctor in Chicago area have been raided by the
FBI as part of an "ongoing federal investigation".
Federal agents executed search warrants and searched
for evidence yesterday at Gautam Gupta's clinics spread across
the city and Rockford, South Beloit, Arlington Heights and
Naperville near here.
"The searches were conducted as part of an ongoing
federal investigation. No arrests have been made and no
charges were filed," an FBI spokesperson told PTI on Saturday.
The spokesperson declined to give further information
regarding the investigation or what the agents were looking
for.
A woman who answered the phone at Gupta's main office
in Rockford declined to comment on the warrants but said the
clinic was open and continued to see patients.
According to information on his website, Gupta is a
weight loss specialist who uses "innovative FDA-approved
medications, along with a weight-loss programme".
It states that Gupta, an MD and board certified in
internal medicine, "finds out what works for you and unlocks
the mystery to your weight loss frustration".
Advertisements about his "nutrition clinic" offering
advice on weight loss have been airing on radio and television
across the city. PTI
