Al-Qaeda militant claims being close to Taliban chief
Purnia, Jan 23 (PTI) Al-Qaeda militant Gulam Rasool Khan
alias Mirza Khan has confessed to having close association
with Taliban chief Mullah Omar who had 'inspired' him to
become a Jehadi, police said Saturday.
Mirza, who was arrested here on Tuesday while trying to
cross over to Bangladesh, also claimed to have associated more
than 1,000 youths with Al-Qaeda.
The militant, who made the revelations during
interrogations in police remand, said he was given the
responsibility to associate the youths with the terror outfit
after he joined it and visited Dubai, Pakistan, Nepal,
Bangladesh and Vietnam for which he had received funds.
Mirza also disclosed that he was a polyglot and knew many
Indian languages including Urdu, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu,
Kannada besides English.
When contacted Superintendent of Police N H Khan said
Mirza was in police remand for five days which would expire on
Sunday and was being interrogated by a team of police
officials with help from several agencies. PTI
