Ashutosh Gowarikar's epic love story "Jodhaa Akbar"
won the best costume design award (Neeta Lulla) and best
choreography (Chinni and Rekha Prakash).
Kannada film "Gubbachigalu" was adjudged the best
children's film while the award for best special effects went
to "Mumbai Meri Jaan".
Malayalam film "Bioscope" won the best jury award
while the trophy for best child actor went to Shams Patel for
the Hindi film "Thanks Maa".
Neeraj Pandey won the Indira Gandhi Award for first
film of a director for his thriller "A Wednesday" starring
Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher.
President Pratibha Patil will confer the awards on the
winners in a function to be held here in March.
Nandita Das' directorial debut "Firaaq", a film on the
aftermath of Gujarat riots, won the best editing award for
A Sreekar and best art direction for Gautam Sen.
Yashraj Film's "Roadside Romeo" won the award for best
animation film.
The best film on environment conservation went to
Oriya movie "Jianta Dhoota".
In the language category, the best award for a Hindi
film went to Abhishek Kapoor-directed "Rock On", best English
film to "Land Gold Women" for its depiction of the issue of
honour killing and the best Assamese film award to "Mon Jai",
which explores the ethical values confronting the youth.
Rituparno Ghosh's "Shob Charitro Kalponik", starring
Bipasha Basu and Prosenjit, was adjudged the best Bengali
film.
The Best Critic award was shared by Altaf Mazid for
focus on Assamese film industry and R K Bidur Singh for
upholding the cause of regional filmmakers. PTI
