Sehwag, Gambhir fifties bring India closer to B'desh total

Mirpur, Jan 25 (PTI) Twin half centuries by openers
Virender Sehwag (56) and Gautam Gambhir (68) propelled India
to 177 for two against Bangladesh at lunch on the second day
of the second and final Test here on Monday.
Riding on Sehwag and Gambhir's 120-ball 103-run opening
partnership, India inched closer to Bangladesh's first innings
total of 233 as the visitors were just 56 runs behind with
eight wickets intact.
At lunch break, Rahul Dravid (33) and Sachin Tendulkar
(13) were at the crease.
Sehwag and Gambhir continued from where they left
yesterday evening and piled up runs at a quick pace this
morning before the former departed after posting his 21st half
century in his 74th match.
Resuming at his overnight personal score of 41, Sehwag
reached to his half century in the third over of the morning
with a boundary off Shahadat Hossain but the pacer had the
last laugh four overs later by removing the dangerous
right-hander.
Sehwag gloved a Shahadat delivery which had extra pace
and bounce only to give a simple catch wicketkeeper Mushfiqur
Rahim. MORE PTI
