`PM willing to reduce border troops if Pak stops terrorists`

Washington, Jan 27 (PTI) Indian Prime Minister Manmohan
Singh is willing to limit troops along the Indo-Pak border if
Pakistan stops terrorists from coming to India, according to
an influential US Senator who met the Indian leader recently.
"In India, our Congressional delegation met with
Prime Minister Singh. I put the question to him, would he be
willing to have a limitation with Pakistan on the number of
troops on the border, which would liberate Pakistani troops to
help us fight al-Qaeda in Pakistan," Senator Arlen Specter
from Pennsylvania said on the Senate floor on Monday night.
"Prime Minister Singh said he would, if the terrorists
would be stopped from coming into India, as they blew up the
hotel in Mumbai more than a year ago," the Senator, who met
Singh in New Delhi last month, told US lawmakers.
The Mumbai attacks in November 2008, carried out by
Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba, had claimed 166 lives. PTI
