New fuel storage facilities go on stream in Fujairah

Fujairah, Jan 28, 2010 (WAM)- H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, inaugurated yesterday new expansions at the Fujairah Refinery Company Ltd (FRCL).
Twenty fuel reservoirs with a total capacity of about 560,000 cubic metres, a 50,000 barrel a day refining unit and four storage facilities with a total capacity of 140,000 cubic metres went on stream today.
Dr. Salim Abd Khalil, Advisor to Fujairah Government for Economic Affairs, said in an address during the ceremony that the new expansions would boost the storage capacity of the Fujairah refinery to one million cubic metres divided into 43 fuel reservoirs while refining capacity is estimated at 80,000 barrels per day.
Fujairah is the second largest bunkering centre in the world after Singapore.
Rapid growth in the oil and petrochemicals sectors is projected to attract investment in the tune of Dh 10 billion in the coming couple of years at a total capacity of up to 10 billion cubic tonnes.
