TELANGANA-IPL
Hyderabad, Jan 29 (PTI) Regretting IPL's decision to
shift the opening ceremony and inaugural match of IPL-III from
Hyderabad to Mumbai, Andhra Pradesh government Friday said it
is ready to provide all necessary support for the conduct
of tournament in the city.
"They need not have any apprehensions. We will provide all
arrangements facilities to the players and organisers. They
can organise the inauguration in Hyderabad", Sports Minister K
Venkata Reddy told reporters.
The inaugural match and opening ceremony of IPL-III,
scheduled to be held here on March 12, was shifted to Mumbai
due to ongoing Telangana agitation.
Telangana supporters had entered the ground and forced
the cancellation of a T-20 match at Rajiv Gandhi International
Stadium here last week. Representatives of the Deccan
Chargers, one of the IPL teams, had met leaders of Telangana
Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and all-party Joint Action Council
spearheading Telangana movement seeking the cooperation to
hold the tournament in Hyderabad.
Both TRS as well as JAC assured their support to
the event in the city. PTI SJR
