Shahid Malik meets Nirupama Rao to discuss timing for talks

New Delhi, Feb 5 (PTI) With India offering to have Foreign
Secretary level talks, Pakistan High Commissioner Shahid Malik
Friday met Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao to discuss the
timing for it.

India has proposed two set of dates in this month and is
awaiting a response from Pakistan, sources said here.
Reflecting a thaw in the relations, Rao had telephoned
her Pakistani counterpart Salman Bashir about a week ago to
invite him to Delhi for talks.
Bashir had welcomed the offer and said he would get
back to her with a response, the sources said.
India made it clear that terrorism will be the focus of
the Foreign Secretary level talks but it will "enter into the
discussions with an open and positive mind".
India had suspended the composite dialogue after the
Mumbai terror attacks and refused to restart the process
before it could see any concrete action being taken by
Pakistan in punishing those behind the carnage. PTI SMJ
