India top of my foreign policy priorities: Cameron

H S Rao
London, Feb 5 (PTI) Terming the Indo-UK ties a
"special relationship," Britain's Opposition leader David
Cameron Friday underlined that deepening the bilateral ties is
one of his top foreign policy priorities.

Cameron, expected to lead Conservative Party to power
in the next elections, asserted that improving relations with
India is one of his top priorities and he is very excited
about the prospects and opportunities of bilateral cooperation
in a sustainable manner.
The British Opposition leader said India was the first
country he visited after taking over the Conservative Party
leadership four years ago.
"I emphasised that we need special relationship with
India and there is a case for the relationship to get stronger
and stronger," underlined Cameron, whose party leads the
ruling Labour in opinion polls ahead of elections due by June
3.
Launching the UK-India Business Leaders Climate Group,
a high-level non-political group, at the London Business
School, Cameron said there was need to "galvanise India-UK
partnership, reinvigorate the bilateral ties in this fast
emerging global market."
Emphasising the need for greater cooperation in the
area of climate change, Cameron said "we need to demonstrate
that a cap on carbon emission must not be a cap on growth" and
there should be greater business to business cooperation in
low-carbon and green energy areas." (MORE) PTI HSR
