Roemer presents copy of US Congress resolution to PM

New Delhi, Feb 8 (PTI) The copy of a rare resolution
passed by the US Congress welcoming Indian Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh to his State visit there in November last was
Monday presented to him here by Ambassador Timothy J Roemer.

Roemer presented the resolution put in a frame when he
met Singh at his residence in Race Course Road, PM Office
sources said.
During the brief meeting, Singh and the Ambassador also
recalled the highly successful trip, that marked the first
State visit by any foreign leader to the US since President
Barack Obama took over in January last year.
On the eve of the visit on November 22, the US House of
Representatives, in a rare gesture, had unanimously passed a
resolution welcoming Singh and noted that the Indo-US ties had
great potential to promote peace, stability and democracy
throughout the world.
The resolution, sponsored by Co-chairs of Congressional
Caucus on India and Indian-Americans Representatives Jim
McDermott and Ed Royce, commended the maturating of the
relationship between the two countries, exemplified by Singh's
