The 50-share Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also
eased by 7.85 points or 0.15 per cent to 5,080.25.
IT shares slipped amid reports that the three biggies--
Infosys, Wipro and TCS --are mulling salary hike for the
financial year 2010-11. The sectoral index also closed down by
1.03 per cent.
Among the big Sensex losers, Infosys fell by 1.40 per
cent. Auto major Maruti Suzuki was next biggest loser at 1.20
per cent.
Country's biggest private sector lender ICICI Bank slid
1.17 per cent, dragging the bankex down by 0.20 per cent,
Reliance Industries which had lifted the markets
Wednesday also lost 0.80 per cent.
RCOM spurted 2.15 per cent, while HUL, locked in a court
battle with rival Procter and Gamble over TV commercial,
gained 1.64 per cent.
The total market breadth remained positive with 1,690
gaining ground against 1,154 finishing with losses on BSE.
The Total volume improved further to Rs 5,240.05 crore
from Rs 5,036.60 crore on Wednesday. ARSS Infrastructure,
which debuted Wednesday, continued to remain top active share
with the turnover of Rs 656.16 crore PTI RSU
