LDALL WOMEN 3 LAST
Together the two parties have 25 MPs in the lower
house. SP has 21 MPs and the RJD 4. A no-confidence motion
requires at least 55 MPs to be tabled and taken up for
consideration.
The SP Parliamentary Party met today to discuss the
situation. Asked whether the SP would execute its threat of
withdrawing support to the government in the wake of the
passage of the women's bill, Yadav said party leaders would
discuss and decide on the issue.
When he was asked a similar question, Lalu Prasad said
his party has sought time from the President and time has not
not been given yet.
Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress, the biggest constituent
of the UPA after the Congress which had boycotted voting on
the bill in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, said on Wednesday there
was "communication gap" and it was in favour of the bill.
Party chief and Union Railway Minister Mamata
Banerjee, however, said there are some misgivings about the
bills in some parties and in a democratic it should be heard
and discussed.
"Our party is committed to the Bill. We will do it,"
she said. PTI AMI
