MOSCOW, March 10 (Itar-Tass) - Russia and India will sign an
agreement, which envisions the construction of two new units of the
Kudankulam nuclear power plant, government deputy chief of staff Yuri
Ushakov told journalists on Wednesday.
"During Prime Minister Vladimir Putin's visit to India on Friday, both
sides are expected to sign an agreement on cooperation in using nuclear
energy for peaceful purposes and a memorandum on mutual understanding. The
documents envision the construction of two new units of the nuclear power
plant in Kudankulam," Ushakov said.
A contract for the supply of 29 MiG-29K fighter planes to India will
be also signed during Putin's upcoming visit to India on March 12.
"It seems that the contract for the supply of 29 MiGs will be signed,"
the deputy chief of staff Yuri Ushakov said.
At the same time, he expressed doubt that an agreement on joint work
on the fifth generation fighter plane would be signed during the visit.
"The goal of signing such a contract was set, but I can't say whether
this will happen or not," Ushakov said, adding, "Maybe not."
