`Putin`s visit to India would reset bilateral relations`

Moscow, Mar 11 (PTI) Russian Premier Vladimir Putin's
trip to India would "reset" the bilateral relations, of late
marred by problems like delay in the agreement on aircraft
carrier Admiral Gorshkov, a leading daily here on
Thursday said.
"The two-day New Delhi visit of Vladimir Putin starting
today could be qualified as the beginning of the
Russian-Indian reset. Although in recent years both the sides
have been calling each other 'strategic partners', lately a
number of problems have accumulated in bilateral relations,"
'Kommersant' wrote quoting Russian Foreign Ministry sources.
"Putin's visit could prove to be a 'breakthrough' when
the two sides would leave behind the 'irritant' in relations
by signing an additional contract on the upgradation of
Admiral Gorshkov aircraft carrier and are expected sign over
USD 10 billion deals," the daily wrote noting Putin will be
accompanied by a high-level team including statesmen and
entrepreneurs from the country.
Putin will be accompanied by two vice premiers -- Sergei
Sobyanin and Sergei Ivanov, Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko and
'RosAtom' CEO Sergei Kiriyenko, "Rostechnology' head Sergei
Chemezev and the top boss of "Sukhoi" Mikhail Pogasyan.
Russia should get rid of 'USSR-syndrome and stop looking
at India like a junior', the daily quoted Tatiana Shaumyan,
Director of Centre of Indian Studies of the Oriental Institute
of the Science Academy, as saying. PTI
