Menon to be India's Special Representative for China talks

New Delhi, Mar 31 (PTI) National Security Adviser
Shivshankar Menon will be India's Special Representative for
the ongoing boundary talks with China.
Menon will carry forward the process from his
predecessor M K Narayanan in the capacity as Special
Representative, sources said.
The two countries have so far held 13 rounds of talks
aimed resolving the vexed boundary issue that has been nagging
the relations for five decades.
Dates for the next round of the talks are being worked
out, they said.
From the Chinese side, Dai Bingguo, State Councillor, is
the Special Representative.
The two sides have been claiming to have made progress
in the negotiations since the mechanism of Special
Representatives was set up in 2003.
The talks are currently being held on the basis of
Political Parameters and Guiding Principles for the Settlement
of the India-China Boundary Question. PTI VMN
