RF, Turkmenistan DMs outline major trends of military cooperation

ASHGABAT, July 5 (Itar-Tass) -- Defence Ministers of Russia and
Turkmenistan Anatoly Serdyukov and Agageldy Mamedgeldyev outlined the
major trends in the development of military and military-technical
cooperation between the countries, deputy press secretary of the Russian defence minister Irina Kovalchuk said after the talks between the defence ministers on Friday.

According to her, Serdyukov "stressed with satisfaction broader
cooperation between the defence ministries of the countries and a
qualitatively new level of this cooperation reached in the last two years."

The Russian Defence Ministry is ready to continue the assistance to
Turkmenistan in the reform and modernization of the Turkmen national armed
forces, Serdyukov said. The Russian defence minister cited as an example
the resumed gratis education of Turkmen servicemen in higher educational
institutions of the Russian Defence Ministry.
