State of emergency lifted in Mongolia

ULAN-BATOR, July 6 (Itar-Tass) -- The state of emergency, which was imposed after the street riots in the Mongolian capital overnight to July 2, was lifted. Mongolian President Nambaryn Enkhbayar issued a relative decree late in the evening on Saturday.
"The state of emergency helped to curb the riots and restore the
public order," he said. "I hope that Mongolian political parties will
settle all disputes concerning the parliamentary elections in compliance with the law," the Mongolian leader said.
The street riots sparked up in Ulan-Bator after the results of the
last Sunday parliamentary elections have been announced. The Mongolian
People's Revolutionary Party won a majority of seats in the Great State Hural. The government had to impose the state of emergency in order to stop the looting and arsons.
