Mongolian PM doesn't preclude chance of new general elections
ULAN-BATOR, July 7 (Itar-Tass) - Mongolian Prime Minister Sanj Bayar
did not preclude a chance of holding new general elections in the country.
He expressed this idea at a news conference in the Mongolian capital on Saturday.
"I don't believe that the voting passed successfully and in line with the law," he noted. "Under conditions when the final results are unknown yet and when complaints connected with the Central Election Commission and local election precincts are pouring in, we should either decide the question on the elections, or recognise preliminary results as final and, according to them, form the legislature."
"I do not preclude a chance of holding repeated elections according to a demand of some political parties, creating, prior to this, a legal basis," the premier stated.
"I believe that the election results will be announced after a
thorough checking of numerous violations. It's still too early to speak of forming a government and its first moves," Bayar underlined.
The Mongolian premier stated that the greater part of detainees,
involved in rioting, was released from custody. Some 200 people are under arrest; the prosecutor's office has specific evidence of their unlawful behaviour. Bayar stressed that they have an access to defence lawyers; and
some legislators monitor observance of the detainees' rights on a regular
basis.
