COURT HEARING ON GOVT'S CIVIL SUIT AGAINST TOMMY SOEHARTO ADJOURNED

Jakarta, July 8 (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta Distrct Court here Tuesday began hearing the government's civil suit against Hutomo Mandala Putra or Tommy Soeharto over the alleged illegal sale of PT Timor Putra Nasional assets but adjourned its session until July 23 because three of the five defendants were not present.

The three absent defendants were PT Vista Bella Pratama (defendnant I), PT Mandala Buana Putra (defendant II) and PT Timor Putra Nasional (defendant IV).

Humpuss (defendant III) was represented at Tuesday's court session by attorney Elza Syarief and Tommy Soeharto (defendant V) by lawyer OC Kaligis. An additional defendant, Amazonas Finance Limited, was represented by legal counsel Gunthar P Gamal.

Presiding judge Reno Listowo said the session was adjourned until July 23 July, 2008 because three of the defendants were absent.

The finance minister on behalf of the govennment and through the Attorney General's Office (AGO) had filed the suit for Rp4 billion against Tommy Soeharto over the illegal sale of PT Timor Putra Nasional collectibles to another party.
