RCA opens health, housing and services projects in Sri Lanka

Colombo - The UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) has inaugurated a series of housing, health and social services projects in Sri Lanka as part of its massive relief programme for reconstruction of the country's infrastructure, badly devastated by natural disasters.
Secretary General of the RCA Ahmed Khalifa Al Qamzi opened yesterday the 60 house Emirates Village in Kigala, 60 kilometres east of the capital Colombo, Emirates Clinic at the Girls' Arabic College in Kalilya and Emirates Orphanage in Parabola which will take care of more than 70 orphans.
Theses facilities were opened in the presence of the UAE Ambassador in Sri Lanka, Mahmoud Mohammed Al Mahmoud, the Sri Lankan Minister of Disaster Management, Abdul Hameed Mohamed Fowzie, and members of the visiting RCA delegation.
Al Qamzi said these projects had been implemented under the care of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region and President of the RCA, for improving living standards and alleviating suffering of those affected by natural calamities in Sri Lanka.
