Economy Minister discusses bilateral cooperation with Polish Minister of Treasury
Minister of Economy Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri said that his recent visit to Poland at the head of an official delegation was very fruitful as they could identify many attractive investment opportunities of higher economic returns, thus contributing to the increase of UAE's investments in vital economic sectors in Poland.
Receiving Polish Minister of Treasury Aleksander Grad and the delegation accompanying him, Al Mansouri also stressed UAE's keenness to bolster economic relations with Poland. At a meeting here, they discussed ways for enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
During the UAE delegation's visit to Poland earlier in January this year discussions focused on cooperation in the fields of petrochemicals, food industries, renewable energy, tourism and agriculture. Al Mansouri also had suggested to the polish officials the possibility of manufacturing Polish products in the UAE to be distributed to the whole region, which was welcomed by Poland.
The delegation also discussed with the Polish officials suggesting proposals to form a joint economic committee to be finalised in the first half of 2010. The committee is aimed at strengthening trade and business relations between the UAE and Poland.
The volume of trade between the two countries reached US$642m (Dh2,361m) in 2008 and Polish investments in the UAE reached US$80m through 18 companies operating in the UAE. The UAE is Poland's leading trading partner in the Gulf and imports from Poland are valued at US$617m. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
