Zayed's proverbs inspire FAO policies

Rome - June 17, 2010 (WAM)- Abdul Aziz Nasser Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Italy and Permanent Representative to the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), discussed yesterday with the FAO Director-General, Dr Jacques Diouf, arrangements for holding the FAO general conference in May 2011 and opening of the FAO Resident Office in Abu Dhabi. UAE's active contributions and engagements in international development aid and efforts for fighting poverty were also touched during the meeting.
The FAO chief said the gold medal the FAO has awarded to the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan for his agricultural development efforts, not only in his country, but in other developing countries was a unique honour that had never been conferred on any international personalities. He noted that he inspired most of the organisation's activities from the adages of Sheikh Zayed. – Emirates News Agency, WAM
