Armenia returns Azerbaijani hostage
According to the State Committee for Hostages, Missing Persons and POWs, Azerbaijan handed over a body of Armenian citizen Saribekian Manvel Mamikonovich to the Armenian side on November 4 in the territory of the Kazakh region in exchange for resident of the Azerbaijani region of Tovuz Tagiyev Eldar who was taken hostage on December 28, 2009.
Saribekian was detained on the frontline by Azerbaijani soldiers on September 11, 2010 but committed suicide in a cell on October 5.
The exchange took place in accordance with a joint statement of Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents made on October 27, 2010.
The process mediated by the International Committee of the Red Cross involved representatives of the State Committee and Defense Ministry.
