Azeri and Rissian scientists awarded UNESCO `s medal and diploma
Baku, November 19 (AzerTAc). UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova awarded a second round of UNESCO Medals “For contributions to the development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies” to expert of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan, group of Russian scientists and Intergovernmental Foundation for Educational, Scientific and Cultural Cooperation (IFESCCO) of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
The presentation ceremony was held at the UNESCO paris headquarters.
Irina Bokova hailed the contribution of Azeri and Russian scientists.
The Medal was established at the initiative of the International Commission responsible for developing the Nanoscience and Nanotechnologies theme for the Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS)* published by UNESCO and EOLSS Publishers. This initiative was supported by the Russian Federation’s Permanent Delegation to UNESCO.
Nobel prize winner, Russian scientist and academician Zhores Alferov was the first to win the medal.
