Head of Azerbaijan`s State Maritime Administration to attend IMO session

Baku, November 22 (AzerTAc). Head of the State Maritime Administration of Azerbaijan Gudrat Gurbanov will leave for London to attend the 88th session of the Maritime Safety Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) on November 24.
According to State Maritime Administration of Azerbaijan, the 10 day event will bring together representatives from 165 countries.
The session will discuss a number of issues, including measures to enhance maritime security, goal-based new ship construction standards, radio-communications, search and rescue, fire protection, safety of navigation, dangerous goods, solid cargoes and containers, role of the human element, piracy and armed robbery against ships and general cargo ship safety.
The attendees will also elect Chairman and Vice-Chairman for 2011 of the Maritime Safety Committee.
