SPEAKER CONGRATULATES MONGOLIANS

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ "The transition to Republican Government policy and to the democracy is a major accomplishment," said the Speaker of the Great State Khural D.Demberel in his address on occasion of the Independence of Mongolia.
The Speaker noted that this holiday is the national holiday for the Mongols, and they must be proud of it. "Choosing a Republican form of Governing, we declared the rights and freedom, especially political freedom and rights of the Mongolian people. In the early
20th century, we managed to terminate cruel medieval order, which had been unable to satisfy most basic human rights, and stepped into the world of a new era," he said.
"Among Asian countries, Mongolia was the first to legalize and declare a gender equality. Today, Mongolia, which follows the path of democracy, is discovering new and good opportunities to achieve progress and development. Having a number of important public policy instruments such as the Millennium Road, regional development, national development strategies, based on the Millennium Development Goals, projects on development of Oyu tolgoi Tavan tolgoi, Mongolia is putting them into practice," the Speaker said.
As he noted, one of the main tasks of nowadays Mongolia is to create an economic environment for democratic development, provide a civil participation, strengthen the successes achieved, and to intensify a social development. He expressed the belief that every citizen of Mongolia--standing on the verge of its intensive development--will be able to make a contribution to the development of the State.
