IISS members confer with Mottaki

Manama, Dec 5, IRNA – Members of International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) attended the venue of Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki residence in Manama and appreciated his participation in Manama Security Dialog.
Members of the institute, who help Bahrain government to hold Manama Security Dialog (MSD) annually, asked Iran to attend future meetings of the MSD.
Mottaki, for his part, expressed hope that work of the institute can attract confidence of the regional countries.
He stressed that recognition of capacities of the region is very important for a research institute and results of the researches should not be affected by certain reports, lack of knowledge or ignorence.
Concerning the nuclear issue, Mottaki underlined Iran’s right to access to such energy and pointed out the slogan of recent international disarmament conference in Tehran as “ nuclear energy for everybody, nuclear weapon for nobody.”
Mottaki underlined the importance of disarming all owners of the atomic arsenals in the world and called it necessary for helping to provide world and regional security.
He added that the era for nuclear arsenals is over and Iran owns stronger weapons like civilization, history, rich culture, firm logic and power for dialogue and intellectual people.
Mottaki rejected scientific apartheid and said that certain countries do not want others to reach a higher stage in science and technology and such discrimination is not acceptable.
Expounding on Iraq and Afghanistan situation, he referred to failure of the US policies and slogans on security restoration, fight against terrorism and radicalism and campaign against production and smuggling of narcotics./end
