Iran, key factor in regional stability: Envoy

Madrid, Dec 5, IRNA – On the eve of negotiation between Iran and Group 5+1, Iran’s Ambassador to Portugal Seyed Rasoul Mohajer recommended members of the group recognize Iran’s role as the main factor of regional stability

In an article titled “ Taking advantage of an opportunity of talk with Iran” , which was published in the Lisbon daily “ Publico” , the ambassador underlined that member countries of Group 5+1 should learn lessons from their former talks and, by honoring Iran’s great nation, recognize Iran’s nuclear right.

Expressing sorrow that the group members, instead of punishment of the Zionist regime, misused UN Security Council and approved Resolution 1929 against Iran as the most disciplined member of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and obliged to Non-Proliferation Treaty.

He added that when EU foreign policy chief Katharine Ashton, one day after approving the resolution, in a letter expressed her readiness for talks with Iran in a 'two-way direction” as a method for interaction and negotiation with Iran, it indicated lack of enough knowledge about Iranian culture and character.

He wrote in the article that slogan of nuclear energy is very widespread in Iran, so that no government official, in any political front here, can sacrifice people right in this concern.

Mohajer added that it could be better if the six member countries instead of wrong former methods, through honoring Iranian right in the field of nuclear energy and admitting Iran’s deep and vast capacities in the field of creating stability and its role as balance and stability factor in the region of Middle East, choose dialogue.

The ambassador underlined that the six member countries choose “ dialogue for cooperation” and by learning of past lessons, consider Iran as a reliable partner for peace and stability in the region of Middle East./end
