British envoy under fire in Iran for human rights remarks

Tehran, Dec 13, IRNA -- British Ambassador to Iran Simon Gass is under fire for his human rights remarks about Iran.

Chairman of Parliament's Commission for Foreign Policy and National Security Alaeddin Boroujerdi vehemently criticized Simon Gass on his human rights remarks.

Boroujerdi said that the ambassador has failed to respect the diplomatic norms.

In an angry reaction to the British ambassador's meddling in Iranian internal affairs, Boroujerdi said that he should, first of all, learn diplomatic code of conduct.

He said that it seems that the British ambassador is leading the two countries to strained relations rather than remove the obstacles and such remarks indicate that what he is doing is away from the diplomatic code of conduct.

The ambassador has put his human rights article on the website of UK embassy while the world public opinion are concerned about the British critical human rights record, he said.

Boroujerdi said that violent suppression of several thousand university students in Britain who were target of savage and inhuman attacks injuring many male and female university students proved that they cannot tolerate their opponents and lack of freedom of speech for the university students.

'The British ambassador should know that the vigilant Iranian nation are well aware of the plots masterminded by Britain in the countries of the region such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Palestine, Lebanon as well as their sabotage in trans-regional developments as Geneva talks and the Iranian Majlis representative will give them a timely response.'/end
