Azeri FM gives interview to Mexican The News
Baku, January 4 (AzerTAc). Azerbaijani foreign minister Elmar Mammadyarov gave an interview to Mexican newspaper The News ahead of his tour of Latin American countries scheduled for early 2011.
The minister`s talk with The News` correspondent Therese Margolis was published in the newspaper`s December 31 edition under the headline “Mexico regards Azerbaijan its important partner”.
In the interview, Mammadyarov highlights Azerbaijan`s policy towards Latin American countries and bilateral and multilateral Azerbaijan-Mexico relations, in particular prospects for energy cooperation.
The FM also highlights the Khojaly tragedy and Nagorno-Karabakh talks, as well as his country`s efforts towards increasing the world community`s awareness of Armenia`s military aggression against Azerbaijan.
Mammadyarov says the fact of occupation by Armenians of twenty percent of Azerbaijan`s lands was recognized by international organizations, including the United Nations. However, he expresses regret “there are still double standards in the global politics”.
“This is why Azerbaijan will use every opportunity to liberate its occupied territories on the basis of international legal norms, and we do not rule out a military option.”
