“75 Years of Contemporary Iranian Architecture” published
TEHRAN, Jan. 4 (MNA) -- A book on contemporary Iranian architecture written by the deceased veteran Iranian architect Seyyed Hadi Mirmiran was unveiled during a ceremony at the Beethoven Hall of the Iranian Artists Forum on Sunday.
His brother Seyyed Hamid and architect Iraj Etesam have completed the unfinished book entitled “75 Years of Contemporary Iranian Architecture”.
The book contains the civil development plans proposed by civil engineers and architects over the last 75 years in Iran which includes some illustrious works.
At the unveiling ceremony, the director of the Mirmiran Foundation gave a short explanation about the formation of the foundation which he said is based on Hadi Mirmiran’s idea about the conception of “global art”.
Cosponsored by the Mirmiran Architecture Foundation, Iran’s Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and the Naghshe-Jahan Pars Consulting Engineers, the book is published in two volumes.
After that, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development official Gholamreza Misaqian explained about the book.
“The book is a great achievement by those who compiled it. Mirmiran started the work by order of the ministry and other scholars reedited and recompiled the book,” he added.
Mirmiran died of kidney disease at the age of 61 on April 19, 2006 in a hospital in Berlin, Germany.
“I believe that the book will find use as a first-hand source in academic research and will be warmly welcomed by researchers and academics,” he added.
Seyyed Hadi Mirmiran was the director of several construction projects, including the Academy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the National Water Museum of Iran, Imam Khomeini International Airport, and the urban design for Tehran’s Navvab Highway.
