Iranian acting Foreign Minister travels to Baghdad

TEHRAN, Jan. 5 (MNA) -- Iranian acting Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi left Tehran for Baghdad on Wednesday morning to congratulate Iraq’s officials on the formation of a new government in this country.

Iranian Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast is accompanying Salehi on his trip.

The acting foreign minister is scheduled to hold talks with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maleki and Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari.

This is Salehi’s first trip within the framework of expansion of bilateral ties.

Salehi had already travelled to Istanbul to attend the 19th ministerial meeting of ECO late in December.
