‘ICRC will do utmost to determine fate of former Iranian deputy defense minister’

TEHRAN, Jan.8 (MNA) -- The representative of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Iran, Pierre Ryter, said the committee will do its utmost to determine the fate of Alireza Asghari, former Iranian deputy defense minister, who has reportedly died in detention in Israel.

Ryter made the remarks in response to a letter, written by Acting Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi, to (ICRC) President Jakob Kellenberger, asking the committee to help determine the fate of Asghari who was kidnapped in Turkey in 2006 by the Zionist agents.

Ryter said the committee will take necessary measures to transfer the body of Asghari to Iran, if he has died.

Zionist sources have claimed that Asgari had committed suicide in a solitary confinement in Israel’s Ayalon prison, but there are reports that spy agency Mossad has killed Asgari.

The Zionist media outlets had previously claimed that Asgari defected to the West and was granted asylum in a Western country. Iran says Asgari was abducted by Mossad agents in Turkey on December 9, 2006.
