Female U.S. spy arrested in Iran: report
TEHRAN, Jan. 8 (MNA)-- Iran arrested a female U.S. spy who illegally entered the country through borders with Armenia.
Almost a week ago, Haley Talayan, 55, was detained by customs officials in the northwest border town of Nordouz in Iran after crossing over from neighboring Armenia without a valid visa.
Talayan was found with espionage equipment, including a recording device hidden in her teeth.
Talayan told Iranian security officials that she feared being deported back to Armenia because she would be killed by Armenian security forces.
However, on Thursday evening Alam TV quoted "Iranian government sources" as saying that Talayan "is still in Armenia and didn't enter Iran, but at the border points she asked to enter Iran. After checking her papers, she was not permitted to enter Iran because she didn't have an entry visa."
