Iranian MP wants Germany resist pressure on Iran

TEHRAN, Jan. 9 (MNA) -- Iran`s Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Saturday that it is expected that Germany adopt an independent policy toward Iran and that Berlin resist foreign pressure on Tehran.

Talking to German ambassador to Tehran Brand Erbel, Boroujerdi said the Majlis committee under his leadership backs any political, economic, and cultural activities that would help expand ties with Germany.

The top MP legislator said interactions between the two countries’ parliamentary and political delegations over the last months indicate the two countries’ political will to boost ties.

Elsewhere in his talks, the lawmaker said Iran welcomes any opportunity to prove its goodwill and show the clarity of its nuclear activities.

He also added that the Islamic Republic expects the planned talks between Iran and 5+1 group in Istanbul would provide an opportunity for a new approach toward Tehran.

For his part, Germany’s ambassador said he will do his best to boost ties with Tehran.

Brand Erbel thanked Tehran for allowing the Germans detained in Tabriz to see their families.
