Iranian prominent principlists, Ahmadinejad meet to foster unity

TEHRAN, Jan.10 (MNA) -- Three prominent principlists met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Thursday to discuss the ways to promote unity among the principlists, Iranian deputy Majlis Speaker Shahabeddin Sadr announced on Sunday.

The figures who held talks with Ahmadinejad were Iranian former Majlis Speaker Gholam-Ali Haddad-Adel, Supreme Leader’s top advisor Ali Akbar Velayati, and Habibollah Asgaroladi, secretary general of the Followers of Imam and Leadership Front.

Kamaleddin Sajadi, the spokesman for the Followers of Imam and Leadership Front, also told on Sunday that the meeting has been held in line the principlists’ policy to promote their unity.

Sajadi said principlists are currently pursuing two major policies: first formulating a comprehensive definition of principlism and second boosting internal unity.

In December, the major principlist parties and groups including the Combatant Clergy Association and the Society of Seminary Teachers held a key meeting to review their policies.

In that meeting the principlists decided to draw up a comprehensive charter of principlism.
