First meeting of Azerbaijani, Kuwaiti governments` joint commission on cooperation held in Kuwait

Baku, January 11 (AzerTAc). The first meeting of the Azerbaijani and Kuwaiti governments` joint commission on cooperation was held on Monday in Kuwait.
The meeting focused on prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kuwait on economy and trade, investment and finance, industry and energy, military, higher education, scientific research, transport, ICT, tourism, culture, health and ecology and sports.
The sides underlined the necessity of strengthening of friendly and fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Kuwait.
The Kuwaiti officials underlined their country supports Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Kuwaiti side also welcomed Azerbaijan`s proposal on Baku`s hosting a summit of the OIC in 2014. It was noted Kuwait would support Azerbaijan`s candidacy for a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in 2013.
During the meeting, the sides signed a Protocol of the first meeting of the Azerbaijani and Kuwaiti governments` joint commission on cooperation, agreement on economic and technical cooperation between the governments of Azerbaijan and Kuwait, agreement on abolishment of visa requirements for persons who hold diplomatic/special passports.
The sides also agreed to continue consultations on various issues of mutual concern between Azerbaijan and Kuwait for expansion of bilateral cooperative relations.
The Azerbaijani and Kuwaiti delegations were headed in the meeting by foreign ministers Elmar Mammadyarov of Azerbaijan and Sheikh Mohammed Al-Sabah of Kuwait.
