UAE Embassy Trade '&' Commercial Office conducts explores collaboration in Las Vegas

Abu Dhabi, Jan 13, 2011 (WAM)- Representatives from the Trade '&' Commercial Office of the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Washington, DC recently visited Las Vegas, Nevada, where they met with local and state economic development and political officials to acknowledge the strong commercial ties between the UAE and Nevada, and discuss areas for future collaboration.
The outreach and awareness mission was led by Saud Al Nowais, Commercial Counsellor and Director of the UAE Trade '&' Commercial Office at the UAE Embassy. Al Nowais was joined by Danny Sebright, President of the US-UAE Business Council.
Nevada and the UAE share a vibrant and growing trade and economic relationship. Nevada exports to the UAE totalled US$17.3 million in 2009. Since 2006, the UAE has made key investments in Nevada companies totalling approximately US$5.4 billion. This includes a significant investment in the Las Vegas CityCenter project, which has been and continues to be a key driver of jobs and economic growth.
"The UAE and Nevada - Las Vegas in particular - have deep commercial relationships, and share other similarities. For example, we both are seeking innovative ways to diversify our economies, in order to better position the UAE and Nevada for future growth," said Al Nowais. "UAE and state businesses can learn much from each other in key areas such as renewable and clean energy, infrastructure development and tourism, and the Trade Office will cultivate this important ongoing dialogue".
While in Las Vegas, The U.S.-UAE Business Council hosted a reception in honour of a delegation from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce '&' Industry where Sebright spoke about the importance of the commercial relationship between the United States and UAE. Sebright underscored the vast investment that the UAE has made in the U.S. and, more specifically, in Las Vegas.
Talal Al Kaissi, Chief of Staff '&' Advisor to the Commercial Counsellor at the UAE Embassy in Washington, D.C., followed Sebright's remarks with a few words highlighting the services that the Trade '&' Commercial office provides to facilitate foreign direct investment, technology and information transfer, and business development between the U.S. and the UAE. - Emirates News Agency, WAM
